A year of drawing, one page at a time.

Four tasks and a weekend project each week. Checkpoints at one, three, six and twelve months show you how far you’ve come.

The whole plan

six stretches, fifty-two weeks

How every week works

  1. 14 tasks and 1 project every week.
  2. 230–45 minutes a day, five days a week. The project goes on the weekend.
  3. 3Spread each task across the week instead of doing it in one sitting.
  4. 4Finish the project. A target is what makes practice stick.
  5. 5Level ups add difficulty. Skip them at first; do all of them in round 2 (weeks 27–32).
  6. 6Warm up for 5 minutes: lines, ellipses, a few one-minute gestures.
  7. 7Sunday review: lay the week’s pages side by side, circle 3 mistakes in red, pick one fix.

The methods that do the work

  • Reference, then memory, then comparethe S-tier exercise
  • Overlay your drawing on the referencesee exactly where you drifted
  • Time limits30 seconds to 2 minutes forces big shapes
  • Think in value groupsshadows, midtones, highlights as separate passes
  • Observe, don’t just seeask why it looks the way it does
  • Benchmark and redrawthe same drawing, months apart
